Jibsticle
Jibsticle - Interactive jib box is an interactive feature created together with Floda 31 for a city snowboard and ski event during the Umeå light festival.
The feature reacts to the skier or snowboarder, lighting up and following the rider.
Key reflections:
Durability was crucial in this project. The feature needed to respond to the riders movement regardless of physical force or low temperatures.
The limitations to how durable this kind of feature can be are primarily time and cost. The feature should primarily survive the event but could even be used as a permanent feature afterwords. The materials and construction were chosen in order to achieve this and a large part of the prototype phase was given to durability testing.
